Our office was fortunate to have Leo as a part of our office for the past 11 years. Leo diligently discharged his duties as the firm’s Client Relations Ambassador for 11 years. Every day at the office, Leo would spring to attention whenever his job responsibilities called.
When the front door creaked open, heralding the arrival of a client, Leo sprang to his feet. By the time the door fully opened, Leo stood poised at the threshold, smiling at the client.
“Why, hello!” a client would typically say, bending down to stroke our Client Relations Ambassador’s golden fur. “What’s your name?”
“I’m Leo!” our Client Relations Ambassador would reply, without any need for words. “Welcome!”
Leo not only cheered clients, but everyone who works at the firm. Sure, he might have passed out in the lobby every morning by 10 am, but not before he put in a full workday greeting lawyers and staff. Leo never flattened anyone while racing around the office to make his morning greetings, but only because of dumb luck. The moment Leo’s paws landed on the office floor each morning, he raced through the building, visiting every lawyer’s office and every paralegal’s desk to ensure that all his human friends were situated as they should be. Leo would spend a few moments with each of us on these morning visits before dashing off to the next, as though to say, “Hi, I’m here. If you need legal research or copies, you might ask someone else. But if you need a friend, or if you want to share lunch, you needn’t look far!”
We all hoped we would have had more time with Leo for welcoming clients to our office, welcoming us to work and welcoming anyone to share lunch. But the time he shared with us? As golden as Leo’s fur. And the legacy he leaves? He loved and was loved. A better legacy no one can leave.
Thanks, Leo, for sharing your love with us.
