Pay Secrecy – Do you work for an employer that prohibits or discourages employees from discussing their pay with coworkers? What Makes It Illegal?
New Hampshire provides that no employer shall require the following as a condition of employment:
(a) That an employee refrain from disclosing the amount of his or her wages.
(b) That an employee sign a waiver or other document that purports to deny the employee the right to disclose the amount of his or her wages, salary, or paid benefits. So, your compensation is one thing you can talk with coworkers. Also, even if you signed a nondisclosure agreement, you are still allowed to talk about your pay.
Employers Cannot Retaliate if You Discuss Wages or Pay
New Hampshire protects employees by providing that:
No employer shall discharge, formally discipline, or otherwise discriminate against an employee because he or she discloses the amount of his or her wages, salary, or paid benefits.
